Mnemonic Actions and Adjectives |
||
Previously, we looked at acrostic sentences where the beginning letter(s) of each word of a sentence could indicate a single digit of a long number. So a sentence equates to a long number.
Another way to present a number within a sentence is to have rules about the nouns, verbs and adjectives: they can represent numbers also.
In this table, actions equate to 2 digit numbers:

We already have people defined from the Vocabulary People lesson. If you know that person BAP has a particular face then you can imagine a story where BAP (person 000) performs an action such as action 08 above (putting a peg on somebody). If BAP puts the peg on person BEP (010) then we are describing the long number 000 08 010 or 00008010.
If BAP can be preceded in the sentence with an adjective then a further 2 digit number can be introduced:
Note: Whereas the actions list, above, has clear spelling prompts based on the digit-letter lesson, these ones have to be learned rote without such a clear hint.

34 is represented by the adjective 'Cheerful'. So 'Cheerful BAP' is 34000 .
If cheerful BAP puts a peg on BEP then the number represented is 3400008010 . A 10 digit number is represented by a short sentence. If it is the last 10 digits of your friend's phone number then you can imagine your friend saying, "Cheerful BAP puts a peg on BEP" so as to memorise his or her phone number. This works best when you know the 1000 vocabulary people's faces and you can picture the story as well as just say the story.
