Picture Dictionary for Making 10000 Scene Locations

 Contents..

This is a dictionary of 1046 concepts. For the part of the MemoryBloke.com course where I talk about a 1000 word picture dictionary, I mean the first 1000 items and not the Politics vocab section at the bottom.

One use of the images is an easy way to start an associative story when trying to learn a word of vocabulary. Eg. The word "Family" now has an image that means family; and so it can be imagined in a scene involving an image that implies some of the spelling of "Family".

Each image will consist of a dominant colour and a minor colour. So item 123 will use the 2 and 3 of 123 to make the major colour be 2 and the minor colour be 3; in that way, the visual item has a clue as to its ordinal position within the dictionary. Fill colours are from the Colours article: 1 to 9 and use white to represent 0 even though white usually means 10; that is because black can cause bad colour contrast problems, in my opinion.

Here are videos of some categories of images (before I apply the two colour tone feature to them):

Video: Science

Video: Family

A visualised story can prompt you the foreign spelling of a picture dictionary word: You can make a mnemonic prompt of how to spell the first few letters of the word in a foreign language. An AA-ZZ person (see the Heroes article) can do an action (see the Actions articles) on the picture dictionary item. The choice of AA-ZZ person and the choice of action are spelling prompts. They only give you the start of how to spell the foreign word but that is very useful as a prompt to trigger recall of the whole foreign word.

Within the visualised action, use its fill colour to give you another letter prompt of how the word is spelled.

Maybe the recipient of the action [the picture dictionary item] could have a smaller motion to imply gender. E.g. Bouncing slightly up and down.

For the 10,000 locations article to work well, I want the 1000 picture dictionary images to be indexed. E.g. If I want picture 456 then I want to get to that image fast.

Masculine Frecnh words ending in E

As an overlapping project, I would like to make a picture dictionary of Frech nouns which end in E but which are masculine. They are exceptions to the feminine E ending general rule. If any of those visual images overlap the 1000 picture dictionary then I would like to use those images in the 1000 word picture dictionary. I think that an image generator could make them in the style of child building block toys and games in order to make it obvious that they are part of the French set. I would know that the word is an E exception by seeing its building block texture.
